Would you rather? Booktube Edition!

Hey Everyone!!

Thought I would give a little break from the reviews and do some Would you rather...
Make it the Booktube version though :)

Would you Rather? Book Edition

1) Read only trilogies or stand-alones?

This one is not that hard for me...I love the trilogies because then the books have enough time to say everything they need to but I would totally pick stand-alones because then I don't have to wait for the new ones to come out or worry about reading 3 books when I can know the whole story in one.

2) Read only female or male authors?

I don't know if I can answer this because it doesn't matter who the author is. Honestly half the time I am reading the book I don't even know if it's a man or a woman until the end and I see their picture.

3) Shop at Barnes & Nobel or Amazon?

This is such an easy question for me. I will go and shop at Barnes & Nobel any day! I would rather go and be able to look around and find so much then have to look up what I want. Yes it can be easier to shop on amazon because it would be in your own home but you would miss out on the experence of going into the store.

4) All books to become movies or tv shows?

This one is really hard!! I love both tv shows and movies and I can see the positive side to both because movies are always amazing but then tv shows go on for months so I would have these amazing shows for a long time. If I had to pick one I would have to pick movies because it seems like the movies come out so much better than the shows.

5) Read 5 pages a day or 5 books a week?

Even though I would love to be able to read 5 books a week I would totally rather only read 5 pages a day so that I could actually retain some of what I'm reading.

6) Be a professional reviewer or an author?

I would rather be a reviewer because I love having conversations with other people about books. I know I could being an author but I wouldn't be out there as much as I would if I was a reviewer. It makes me happy to be able to read a book and talk to people about it.

7) Only read your top 20 books over and over again or only read books you have never read before?

OMG another horrible question that I cannot answer. Even thought I wouldn't be a reader without some of my favorites I would have to say I'd read only new books because I feel like I would get annoyed with only having those 20 books to read.

8) Be a librarian or a bookseller?

Well, I am going back to school to become a librarian so I guess I would have to pick that. But it would be amazing to be a bookseller. I have visions of being Ellen on The Ellen Show because her shop was so cute.

9) Only read your favorite genre or the opposite?

This one is super easy! Of course I would read my favorite genre. If I got the choice why would I ever read something I hate over something I love.

10) Only read hardbacks or only e-readers?

I hate hardbacks....but I hate e-readers so much more. I would totally take hardbacks because then at least it would be a physical book in my hands that won't die like an e-reader.

Book Review: Red Queen

Red Queen
By: Victoria Aveyard

 General Information:

Copyright date: 2015
Genre: Young Adult/Fantasy
Pages: 383
Price: $14.39 (via the link below)
ISBN: 9781409151173
Publisher: Harper Collins

Synopsis: This is a world divided by blood - red or silver. The Reds are commoners, ruled by a Silver elite in possession of god-like superpowers. And to Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old Red girl from the poverty-stricken Stilts, it seems like nothing will ever change. That is, until she finds herself working in the Silver Palace. Here, surrounded by the people she hates the most, Mare discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy the balance of power. Fearful of Mare's potential, the Silvers hide her in plain view, declaring her a long-lost Silver princess, now engaged to a Silver prince. Despite knowing that one misstep would mean her death, Mare works silently to help the Red Guard, a militant resistance group, and bring down the Silver regime. But this is a world of betrayal and lies, and Mare has entered a dangerous dance - Reds against Silvers, prince against prince, and Mare against her own heart...

Cover: I am probably the only one but I actually thought the cover was kind of boring and dull. Yes it was pretty with the crown and the blood. Also, yes sometimes less is more but I don't know, it just didn't thrill me. I think it could have been done better because I totally would not have picked this one up if it wasn't for a recommendation.

Theme: I believe that the underlying theme of this book was that everyone should be treated equally.

Point of View: This was written in first person with just the one narrator.

Intended Audience: It was written for the young adult audience but the writing was really childish. I am guessing it was written for the younger kids within the young adult genre.

Author Style: Like I said before; since I feel like it was written kind of childishly it was very generic and seemed like anyone could write it. I am not saying she can't write for anything but it was not what I thought it would be seeing as in the book needed to be great to have a great world build.

Characters: Most of the characters kind of got on my nerves and had some sort of horrible quality that stood out. The only character I really liked was Maven; he was Cal's little brother. I feel like he was the best written. I know some people like the 'unlikable' characters but Mare was just obnoxious.

Plot: The world that it was written in was some of the best parts! It seemed to really flow freely when it came to building the world but kind of hit a dud when it came to the action scenes. It didn't seem to have many feelings when it probably should have. The book was amazing when it first started, proceed to get flat and then in the last 50 or so pages made me love them. I felt like there was going to be so much more epicness and there wasn't really any until the end. I am going to be reading the novellas and the next one but I am not going to get excited because I did with this and it let me down.

My Opinion: So yes I liked the book I even thought that it could be another huge fandom but the writing held it back. I really loved the concept of the story; I thought it was an amazing idea. I think one of the biggest things the author can improve on is engaging the readers more. Of course I read the whole thing because I wanted to but as a reader I wanted to have one of those 'can't put it down' type books. Like I said before I will be reading the rest in the series because I did like it enough but I am really hoping the story comes through more in these.

The first novella is out now only as an e-reader.
The novella's book Cruel Crown will be out Janurary 5, 2016
The second book Glass Sword comes out Feburary 9, 2016

Recently Watched Movies

Movie Reviews!

Hey guys!! I've been watching a whole bunch of movies lately so I thought I would do some mini reviews on here for you all!
It is not going to be as in depth as my book reviews but still given a star score.

 1) Disney's Descendants

This was a straight to tv movie that followed the book. The villians were thrown off onto an island and now they are back to be given a second chance.
I have so many mixed thoughts about this movie. I LOVED the book but the movie fell short. I didn't like all the singing and some of the characters didn't seem to fit.
Score:  Image result for 3 out of 5 stars

2) Poltergeist (2015)

Image result for poltergeist 2015

This is the newest remake of the classic. I would have to say that the original movie is so much better. Yes this one was scary and made us scream but didn't really sit with me. I thought it would have been 10 times more scary since it was being made in this day and age but it was disappointing. The ending was extremely bad as well!
Score: Image result for 2 out of 5 stars

3) 28 Days

So this was an amazing movie! This has Sandra Bullock as the main character; which makes it so much better! It is about this girl who is an alcoholic because of past issues and goes to rehab for ....you guessed it...28 days. I seriously loved this movie and thought it was something everyone should watch.
Score:  Image result for 5 out of 5 stars

4) Paper Towns
Yep..I watched the movie before reading the book. I hope you all don't kill me! lol
So... I don't really know how to talk about this one. This is the movie adaption of the book 'Paper Towns' by John Green. I liked the movie but didn't like parts of it. Of course this could be because I have not read the books yet but I didn't like the ending at all. I was kind of holding it up to 'The Fault in our Stars' and it did not hold up. But everything up to the ending was really good and done very well.
Score: Image result for 4.5 out of 5 stars

5) Jurassic World

So.. Yet again don't kill me but this is not my type of movie. Yes it was a good movie...well other than some parts. I thought some of the graphics were a little poor seeing as what they can do now a days. I loved Chris Pratt though! I thought the acting in it was amazing I am just not a dinosaur fan. If you loved the 3 part series and love dinosaurs then you need to see this one!
Score: Image result for 4 out of 5 stars

 6) Insidious 3

OMG LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!! I loved both of the other two but this one just put so much more scare factors into it. I do not think there has been a scary movie lately that has scared me as much as this one did. These are seriously some of my favorite movies of all time! If you have not seen these then you really need to watch them! One of the best movies of this year so far!
